Wood Shop
General Information
The Wood Shop has a variety of tools and machinery that aren't suited for the Clean Room or Metal Shop. The Woodshop has one big worktable to set up equipment and/or gather for classes/workshops.

Saws
Finishing Machines
- Use of the finishing and surface preparation machines requires an orientation. Visit the Finishing Machines page for details.
CNC Router
- Use of the CNC Router requires an orientation. Visit the CNC Router page for details.
All Equipment
- Equipment requires an orientation or authorization may be operated by an unauthorized user only under the direct supervision of an authorized user.
Wood Shop Area Safety
- Do not use any machine you are not trained on and are comfortable using. If at any time you are unsure of what you are doing, stop immediately and ask for help on Berea Makerspace Slack, or email info@bereamakerspace.org.
- Do not use any machine that is not in good working order. Stop, unplug, and leave a note on the machine and notify Makerspace leadership.
- Never assume a tool is properly adjusted; always check the tool before use.
- Make sure to wear closed-toe shoes.
- If you have long hair or loose clothing, make sure to tie it up before using any machinery.
- Never modify or hack any equipment. If you think an improvement can be made, discuss it on Slack!
- Attire
- Avoid loose clothes and hair
- Remove rings
- Wear close-toed shoes
- Don't wear gloves when operating power tools
- Wear Safety Glasses
- Wear respiratory protection when appropriate
- Wear hearing protection for loud equipment or extended use
- Keep floors clean, clear, and dry.
- Keep extension cords off of the floor when not in use.
- Any rag or paper towel with used with oil-based or potentially flammable finishes MUST BE DISPOSED OF IN THE OILY WASTE CAN.
- Store finishes in the yellow fire cabinet.
- Don't eat and drink around power tools.
DO NOT PUT DRINKS OR OTHER LIQUIDS ON CAST IRON SURFACES.
13. Be aware of people around you when using equipment, and don't approach others while they are using equipment
