Basic Workflow
Most projects in VCarve Pro follow this simple workflow:
- Job Setup - Define your material size and thickness
- Design - Create or import your vectors and 3D models
- Toolpaths - Set up cutting operations (profile, pocket, v-carve, etc.)
- Preview - Use the 3D simulation to verify everything looks correct
- Save Toolpaths - Export the G-code for the CNC machine
Using VCarve Pro at Our Makerspace
- VCarve Pro Master Licenses are installed on the computers located in the Clean Room
- For working on projects at home, download the free trial and use your login attached to our makerspace license
Important File Transfer Notes
CRITICAL: When working between home and the makerspace:
- Always save your CRV project file - this is the main design file that can be edited
- Ensure you are logged into your account before saving files at home, otherwise the master license at the makerspace won't be able to open them
- Toolpath generation and G-code export can only be done on the master license at the makerspace - do not attempt to generate G-code at home
- Use a USB drive or cloud storage to transfer your CRV file to the Clean Room computers
- At the makerspace, open your CRV file on the Clean Room computer to generate toolpaths and export G-code for the CNC router
