General Information

The Wood Shop encompasses tools and processes that don't fit well in either the Clean Room or Metal Shop. There is one big worktable available here to set up equipment and gather for classes/workshops.
If you have any issues with Wood Shop equipment, the slack channels associated with this space include: #general, #shop-cnc, and #shop-wood

Access Policy

Saw Blades

  • Use of the Saw Blades requires an orientation. Visit the Saw Blade page for details.

Finishing Machines

  • Use of the finishing and surface preparation machines requires an orientation. Visit the Finishing Machines page for details.

CNC Machine

  • Use of the CNC machine requires an orientation. Visit the CNC Machine page for details.

Drilling Machines

All Equipment

  • Equipment requiring authorization may be operated by an unauthorized user only under the direct supervision of an authorized user.

Wood Shop Area Safety

  1. Do not use any machine you are not trained on and are comfortable using. If at any time you are unsure of what you are doing, stop immediately and ask for help on Berea Makerspace Slack, or email info@bereamakerspace.org.
  2. Do not use any machine that is not in good working order. Stop, unplug, and leave a note on the machine and notify Makerspace leadership.
  3. Never assume a tool is properly adjusted; always check the tool before use.
  4. Make sure to wear closed-toe shoes.
  5. If you have long hair or loose clothing, make sure to tie it up before using any machinery.
  6. Wear Safety Glasses.
  7. Never modify or hack any equipment. If you think an improvement can be made, discuss it on Slack!
